Manual Handling Course
Course Aim
This training programme, which should be a minimum of 2.5 hours, has been designed to provide essential knowledge and understanding of manual handling in the workplace. Good health and safety standards rely on employers and employees working together to reduce the risks and prevent accidents and ill health arising from work activities.
Chemfreight DGT has designed this course to give employees an appreciation of manual handling operations.
Course content
The programme is designed to:
- Explain the term manual handling
- Explain how manual handling injuries are caused
- Explain the principles for controlling manual handling risks
- Explain the purpose of conducting manual handling assessments
- Explain the provisions of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
Areas covered:
- The process of manual handling in the workplace
- Manual Handling injuries and the activities which cause them
- Manual Handling assessment and control options
- Responsibilities imposed by the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
All personnel will receive an aide-memoire booklet containing all the relevant information and also a Principles of Manual Handling Certificate upon successful completion of a multiple-choice examination. This will be required to be kept by the individual and a copy can be taken by the employer as required by the Health & Safety Regulations.
